The Visa Acceptance integration is built, owned and maintained by VISA Acceptance Solutions, available for use on Shopify and Shopify Plus.

      *Google Pay transactions via a non-Android device may not invoke the Payer Authentication journey for your customer.
      If you choose to proceed with an individual non-secure transaction, please be aware that you may lose any liability shift protection that would usually be provided by Payer Authentication.

Getting Started

Prerequisites - Visa Acceptance



You will be able to configure this integration to either Test or Production. If you do not yet have a live Visa Acceptance account, or you wish to first test the integration, then creating a sandbox account will not only allow you to start programmatic integration but also provides access to the Visa Acceptance Portal.

Before configurating this integration, you are required to have admin user access to your Transacting-level MID for your  (Live) or (Test) accounts in order to approve the OAuth application.
Your Account-level MID will not be able to be used during the OAuth login process. 

 

Installation


The Shopify integration for Visa Acceptance, usable with Visa Acceptance,  is distinctly split into two integrations:
Production - https://apps.shopify.com/Cybersource
Test - https://apps.shopify.com/Cybersource-cas 
This is to ensure we seperate Production and Test Traffic whilst continuing to allow our merchants to test end to end.

Please note when installing you will need to install the relevant integration into your Shopify Store.   

Configuration

  • Select Install on the Listing Page (Test / Production)
  • Sign in to your Shopify Account
  • Select your Shopify Store (if you have multiple you will need to repeat this step)
  • Click Install App
  • Shopify will redirect you to the Cybersource Business Centre
    Log in with your Visa Acceptance MID and credentials

Visa Acceptance and Shopify have created a joint authentication mechanism to ensure your transactions are securely handled, in order to enable the connection between both platforms after you have been logged in you will be presented with an Onboarding Agreement.

  • Click "I agree to access terms"
  • If your account is enabled for 3D-Secure and you require this for the Shopify store you're enabling, please also click "Enable Payer Authentication (3D Secure)" 
  • Click Confirm

n.b. If you misconfigure 3D-Secure you can re-complete the steps above and change the configuration selected.      

  • Once redirected back to Shopify you can now enable your Payment Types (please note these also need to be available on your Visa Acceptance  account)
  • Click Activate  

 


Please note, upon redirection to the Business Centre, if you have an existing session of the  open it's possible you will receive "URL Not Found" error message.  To prevent this please log out of all Business Centre sessions and retry.  If you're unable to log out due to your browser closing. all sessions auto-terminate after 15 minutes  and can be retried after this period

Configure  3D-Secure

Please ensure that Payer Authentication is properly enabled on your Visa Acceptance MID before enabling the app.

If you have initially configured the app without 3D-Secure you can re-complete the onboarding steps and ensure that the Enable 3D-Secure option is selected on the Onboarding Agreement Page within the Business Centre.

Configure Apple Pay/Google Pay

Apple Pay and Google Pay are natively within Shopify's checkout, however Shopify are in control of all communication with Apple/Google for these payment methods. These payment methods are not enabled by default. To enabled Apple Pay and Google Pay:

  • Access Shopify Back Office
  • Navigate to Settings
  • Navigate to Payments
  • Select the Configure on the Visa Acceptance tile
  • Enable Apple Pay/Google Pay as required
  • Select Activate

Validate/Test the installation

Now you have enabled and configured the plugin now is the time to check your integration works.

a. Open your Shopify Web Store

b. Add an item to the Cart and proceed to checkout

c. Enter Shipping information

d. Enter test card information*

e. Select Pay Now

For Merchant Migration Only

  • Select “Install” within the marketplace listing
  • Log in from here with Shopify credentials

  • Once in the Shopify account, click “Connect to Cybersource”
  • This will prompt to login to the Cybersource Business Centre using your Visa Acceptance credentials and accept the terms to allow Shopify to submit transactions
    • Please note 3D-Secure will need to be enabled at this point.  Missing this step will require reinstallation to enable in the future.
  • Select Approve to be redirected back to Shopify  
  • Select the card brands be accepted (based on those enabled in the Cybersource account) and click “Activate” in the lower right corner.
  • Enable “Test Mode” here to run test transactions to ensure the application is connected properly. Please note, LIVE transactions will appear to process but no funds will be collected. Do not ship product for transactions in test mode.
  • Manage the application by logging into the Shopify admin account, clicking Settings → Payments → Manage
    • Please note any changes will need to be saved to be implemented.
