Getting started in Developer Center
Create a sandbox account
If you haven't already, we highly recommend setting up a sandbox account. This not only paves the way for programmatic integration but also provides access to our Enterprise Business Centre. If you already possess a test account, feel free to proceed to Step 2.
Here's how to create a sandbox account:
- Navigate to our sandbox creation page
- Complete the registration form
- Click 'Submit' to finalize your sandbox account creation
Upon completion, an automated email containing initial login instructions and password reset steps will be dispatched to you. If you do not receive this email within 2 minutes of clicking 'Submit', please check your spam folder.
Note: Upon signing up, a set of keys will be displayed as illustrated in the GIF below. It's crucial to save these keys for the next step.
After establishing your username and password, you can access your account via the Visa Acceptance Business Center.
Getting started
Authenticate With REST API Keys
After you land on the Developer Center API Reference Assets, go to the APIs and Endpoints menu item and input the Organization ID, Key and Shared Secret Key created in Step 1, in the field input boxes and hit Update Credentials button.
As an alternative, these keys can also be generated using the Business Center Key management module.
Generate Webhook Security Key for Digital Signature Validation
Before you can start receiving webhook notifications, a digital signature key is required. This key can be generated using the Create Webhook Security Keys (POST) This key allows Visa Acceptance to append a distinct signature to each notification, which enables you to verify the integrity of the webhook notifications and provides protection against replay attacks.
For guidance on how to confirm the integrity of a notification payload using the digital signature key, please consult the Notification Validation section in our Developer guide.
Follow the steps below to use this API:
- In the Live console, populate the 'tenant' and 'organizationID' fields with your Organization ID.
- Upon completion, please click 'Send'.
- If the key creation is successful, a 201 response will be reflected in the response body.
Please remember to securely store the key derived from the API response. This key will be essential for future message validation.
Discover Subscribable Products and Events
You can explore the variety of products and events available for subscription by utilizing Find Products You Can Subscribe To(GET) API. This API call retrieves a comprehensive list of all products and events that are enabled and specifically configured for your account.
To fetch this list, simply replace the placeholder in this URL - https://apitest.Visa Acceptance.com/notification-subscriptions/v1/products/{organizationId} - with your Organization ID and press 'Send' in the Live Console panel on the right.
The response will provide an array of products and corresponding events that you can subscribe to. If a product is associated with an empty array, it indicates that there are no webhook events associated with that particular product.
Please note, you can only subscribe to webhooks for products and services that are activated and set up for your account. The API response will include an array of products, and each product will list its respective event types in the 'eventTypes' fields.

Creating a Subscription
Once you have identified what events you want to receive webhooks for, you can proceed towards creating a subscription for those events using the Create a Webhook (Post).
Currently, we allow creating a single subscription for multiple events within a product. You will need to create a new subscription for each new product and its respective events. Ensure you have below before creating a subscription:
- organization ID
- names of products and events
- your application endpoint url (webhook url) -
- healthcheck url
Note: A webhook URL is an endpoint in your application where our platform sends real-time webhook upon specific event triggers. A health check URL is an endpoint that returns the status of your application back to our platform, typically used to monitor its availability and proper functioning. In tab Step 5, you can see the difference between webhook notification and healthcheck ping delivery
Below are the steps to create a subscription:
- The Create API allows you to select a product and auto-populate the events in the Live console
- Once you have selected a product, move to Live console area and define subscription name and description
- Proceed to input organization ID for the same name titled field value in Live console request. For this example, we are using Invoicing. Once selected, the invoicing events populate in the console eventTypes array
- Next, input the webhookUrl and healthcheckUrl, they can be the same or different depending on your system setup
- Hit the Send button
Test your Webhook Integration and Receive a sample webhook payload
Before you go-live with your webhook endpoint function, we recommend that you test your application integration. You can receive a sample webhook notification for any of your pre-created webhook subscriptions by triggering an event in the Business Center Test portal or using an API from the Developer Center.
Here is an example for how to receive an Invoicing event webhook:
- As a follow-up to our example, we can trigger the invoicing.customer.invoice.send event through the Business Center UI
- Login to Business Center using your Organization ID, username and password
- Open Manage Invoices from the left navigation menu and click on Create Invoice button
- Complete the invoice form and click on the Send Invoice button
- This will trigger the event and send the webhook notification to the registered webhookUrl, for this example we are using requestcatcher
As you can see below, the POST webhook notification for invoicing.customer.invoice.send was successfully delivered
